The Prime Minister today announced a historic welfare scheme under which families from economically weaker sections and middle-class households will receive direct financial assistance. Each eligible family will get an annual support amount credited to their bank accounts.
According to government sources, the scheme has been allocated a budget of Rs 50,000 crore and will be rolled out starting next month.
